Hi. My name is Jazmin and I’m apart of the Rekindle the Fire dance ministry here at ReDigging the Foundation Ministries. I want to talk to you today about Dehydration in Spirit.

I must admit….for a few weeks now I have not been hydrating myself before I minister in dance.

So, I had to ask myself, “Why am I not drinking enough water before I minister in dance? There have been times at the end of a song, that I would feel dizzy, tired, or about to faint as a result of fast-paced movements or spinning.

“I’m like, Lord what in the world is going on?”

And then I realize “I need water.”

The Lord allowed me to realize that when I’m weak in my natural body,  I’m also weak spiritually.

It is important that we’re alert on the battlefield of our minds, where the enemy wages war.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5:8 KJV

We must stay hydrated on the battlefield.

But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life. John 4:14

I thank God for scripture because spiritually speaking that’s what His Word represents – WATER.

And if we continue to drink of Him, we will stay hydrated. We will be able to keep up our stamina.  Able to move how He wants us to move and how he needs us to move so that we can minister to others the water of his word. It makes no sense to talk about it if we’re not applying it ourselves. If we’re not consuming the water of His word.

How we minister to others, regardless of the God-given gift we may have, all of it is considered ministry!

It’s important to have a relationship with God that is hydrated.

Dehydration just doesn’t happen when dancing, it is evident that we are massively dehydrated as a people, and if we don’t drink, we’ll wither and die.

Jesus says, in the book of John “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”

Without the word of God, we thirst for more…

The world tells us:

Buy this gadget, it’ll make you happy……….

Buy this car it’ll make you happy……

Get status, money, and material things; That will certainly fix the problem.

None of these actually work!

Our spirit lives in a perpetual state of dehydration when we’re cut off from the words of the Lord. The physical symptoms reflect our internal state. We live in an ungodly state. We think acquiring more things will fill that void. Not realizing, drinking only of the world is like a slow drip poison on our hearts. The more we do it the worse it gets. Forgive us Lord, for we know not what we do.

Spiritual dehydration will produce many of the same effects as the physical because they are inherently connected.

Let’s take a look at these 3 examples:

Lack of self-control

Without the hydrating words of the Lord, we cannot control ourselves. We get distracted trying to fill the hole in our hearts with endless hours of video, and the internet at our fingertips. We give in to temptation again and again until we can’t go on anymore.

Lack of energy

Dehydration of the spirit comes with a lack of energy. We don’t have the energy to push forward with our purpose. We lack the energy to go forth into this world and make it better. We’ve lost the drive to spread the gospel. Many people work through the day, dreaming of the time they get off and dread going back in the mornings. Where did the vitality go? It dried up and instead of going back to the Lord, we’ve convinced ourselves that this is normal. The ultimate deception of the mind.

Sunken eyes

Just glance around and you’ll see many with their sunken eyes, crying out for help. They don’t even know they’re thirsty and certainly don’t know how to quench the spirit. Most ignore the warning signs; some cover it up with make-up. Some try to quench it with liquor, but it doesn’t work that way.

How do we overcome spirit dehydration?

The word of God is the only way to reinvigorate those of us afflicted with spiritual dehydration. Only through the Lord can we be refilled. It’s through our constant reflection on the scriptures that opens our hearts, to once again, drink from the spring of life.

We must pray to God for forgiveness of the times we took sinful action to guide us back to the water of His word and hydrate our soul, once more.

Our body is a temple

As we can see, we must be steadfast in caring for our body spiritually and naturally.

Meditating on the word of God daily is beneficial when wanting to live a Christian life.

We invite you to listen to the word of God with us!

Thank you and have a blessed day.
